How many follow ups after a tummy tuck? ›

Your surgeon will also book you in for several follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure that your body is healing as expected. At the CREO Clinic, you can expect at least three aftercare appointments: one week, six weeks, and six months after your tummy tuck.

You can do this by being personable and approachable and using humor if appropriate. Ask them questions about their life. Spend a moment getting to know them, so they feel you care. If you see a patient's anxiety increasing during an exam, ask them questions to distract them from their fear.

The worst days after a Tummy tuck are typically the first one to three days, patients may experience discomfort, bloating, pressure, and swelling. Pain medication and rest are crucial during this time. The worst days typically occur within the first week, with pain levels ranging from 5-6 on a scale of 1-10.

As part of the recovery process, patients will need to hunch or bend over at the waist when walking for about a week after a tummy tuck.

Comfort care includes physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support for patients and their families. The goal of comfort care is to control pain and other symptoms so the patient can be as comfortable as possible.

How often should I get up after tummy tuck? ›

Week One: The first week following abdominoplasty, you should focus on rest and recovery. After the second day, your only exercise should involve getting out of bed every two hours and walking with assistance for 10 to 15 minutes.

Swelling is usually the main reason why your tummy may not look flat during recovery. As this resolves, the tummy will begin to show its new shape with little visible swelling left within three to four months. However, it can take one full year for your final results to appear.

Final tummy tuck results take months to see, but on day 1 we will make sure you have plenty of necessary medications and understand how to fit into your compression garments and begin taking care of the incisions. Typical follow-up appointments after day 1 include week 1, week 2 and week 6.
