A good massage should ease muscle tension, provide relief from aches, and promote relaxation. Feeling sore the next day doesn't necessarily indicate a successful massage. Pressure, tailored to individual comfort levels, is vital.

Most legitimate massage parlors will have an open, welcoming storefront to encourage customers to come in and try their services. If you see a massage parlor with windows boarded up or really dark blinds covering them, that is a red flag. It's even more alarming if they don't have windows in the first place.

When I tell people what I do for a living, they often ask me if I prefer my clients to be talking during a massage, or be silent. I will clear this up straight away – if you are getting a massage, that is your time, and if you want to chat or be silent the choice is yours.
