What working area do you need?

This really should be your first thought when it comes to purchasing CNC routers. The last thing you want to do is realise that the bulk of your work won’t be able to be machined on the router bed.

If you only need a 600 x 900 mm working area, you need to be looking at ourSpartan CNC Router rangebut if you need anything larger you also have additional choices, Falcon or Apollo.

OurSpartan range comes in600 x 900, 1300 x 1300, 1300 x 2500, 1500 x 3000 mm.

Falcon & Apollo CNC Routerscome in 1300 x 1300, 1300 x 2500, 1500 x 3000, 2000 x 3000, 2000 x 4000 mm.Custom bed sizes are available on request.

Is auto tool change a requirement?

Even though our Spartan range of CNC routers is impressive in its own right, they do miss out on some features such as the auto tool change function and additional items like servo drives, higher-powered air-cooled spindles etc.

This means that if you need auto tool change functions that allow the operator to program their software to produce a number of different tool paths, thus allowing the machine to interpret these steps and automatically choose the right tool in the rack, pick it up and continue processing the job. This is all done without the operator needing to stop the machine and change tools.

Machines to look out for are our Falcon ATC and Apollo ATC range, fully equipped with automatic tool change to reduce production times.

Fibre Laser Cutting Machines | Fibre Metal Laser Cutters UK Based (15)

Do you need advanced functions or 4-axis, dual-bed systems?

If your application or business needs advanced functionality then you may need to look at our machines that operate using our M-TECH CNC motion control or Syntec (for dual bed, oscillating knife, drill bank, 4 Axis etc).

Machines to look out for in our advanced category are the full Apollo range (including Apollo M and ATC versions). Where you need side drilling and cutting operations our Apollo 4 Axis ATC CNC router should be on your list. This impressive system comes with a 9kW air-cooled system like our Apollo ATC but allows the spindle to rotate for side processing.

The Apollo 4 Axis comes with a full set of pod and rail systems to ‘raise’ your workpiece off the bed surface giving you impressive functionality.

If you need maximum productivity where you can load one side of the machine whilst the other side operates, our Dual Bed (pendulum) CNC router systems are the logical choice.

Having been a complete novice at CNC routing I have been most impressed by the professional approach at Mantech machinery.
An Initial demonstration demonstrated what the machine was capable of and after installation the training was superb. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for your CNC requirements.

Dave Warren

I’ve been really impressed with my experience so far with Mantech. We’ve received great support through them for a CNC machine that we didn’t even purchase from them – with spare parts sent quickly and a very decent service provided by their engineer, Adrian. Mantech will certainly be the first I call for any future issues we have with our machines.

Cre8iv Joinery Ltd

Having wanted a CNC router for about 10 years, I decided to take the plunge and after much shopping around decided on an Apollo 1530. Couldn’t be happier so far, just a shame I had to wait so long before finally purchasing one! The staff have been great and helpful, have had a few minor teething issues that needed a look at since the machine was installed, but they were on hand straight away to help and everything ironed out very quickly. Very impressed with the service, and the product. Many thanks! Cre8iv Joinery Ltd

FAQs

Will a fiber laser cut metal? ›

Yes, you can laser cut metals with a fiber laser, however, it would have to be an extremely potent fiber source of around 2000W. You cannot laser cut any metal with a standard fiber laser of 20W to 50W. This means that laser cutting metal is only possible for big businesses.

How much does a fiber laser cutter cost? ›

The price of a fiber laser cutter ranges from $30,000 to $600,000 while the price of a CO2 laser system can vary from $10,000 to $200,000.

What is the difference between fiber laser cutting machine and laser cutting machine? ›

Application Area: The CO2 laser cutter excels in high-quality cutting of non-metallic materials like wood, acrylic, PP, and plexiglass. It's specifically designed for non-metal applications. Conversely, the fiber laser cutting machine is ideal for high-precision cutting of metal plates.

How powerful of a fiber laser do I need? ›

A great rule of thumb is that if you never cut material over 0.100 inch, then highest power you should consider is 10kW. However, if some of the material you cut is over 0.100 inch, then you can effectively utilize 15kW. If some is over 0.130 inch, you can effectively utilize 20kW.

What can a fiber laser not cut? ›

Secondly, the fiber laser cutting machine cannot cut the MDF, which mainly include fiberboard, wood fiber, and plant fiber, and some materials are made of urea-formaldehyde resin and artificial board made of adhesive. Because fiber laser cutting machine is belong to hot-processed.

What laser is strong enough to cut metal? ›

In general, cutting metal requires a much higher-power laser such as a fibre laser or a high-power CO2 laser with a power output of at least 500W or more, depending on the type and thickness of the metal being cut.

Why is fiber laser so expensive? ›

Durability and Reliability: These lasers boast exceptional lifespans exceeding 100,000 hours, making them a long-term investment. Compact Design: Despite their power, fiber lasers are known for their compact size, often requiring specialized engineering and materials, contributing to the cost.

How thick will a 1000W fiber laser cut? ›

Is fiber laser cutter better than waterjet? ›

Waterjet cutting excels in cutting through thick, dense materials, such as stone, ceramics, and metals. Laser cutting is precise and ideal for cutting intricate shapes and designs from thinner materials, such as plastics, fabrics, and thin metals.

Which is better CO2 or fiber laser cutter? ›

Fiber lasers are significantly faster at cutting thin sheets (< 8 mm) than CO2 lasers, particularly when cutting stainless steel. For 1 mm, a fiber laser can cut at speeds up to 6 times higher than that of a CO2 laser. The difference decreases to approximately 2 times faster for a 5 mm sheet.

How to choose fiber laser cutting machine? ›

How to choose a Suitable Fiber Laser Cutting Machine?
  1. Power and Capability: For the laser cutting machine's power, higher power machines can often cut thicker materials and have faster cutting speeds. ...
  2. Cutting Area and Bed Size: The cutting area and bed size needed for your applications.

How much does a fiber laser cost? ›

Fiber laser machines create more precise cuts compared to more conventional CO2 lasers, and have an extended lifespan. But on the other hand, fiber lasers tend to be pricier than traditional lasers. Fiber lasers usually cost in the range of $20,000 to $45,000.

What are the limitations of fiber lasers? ›

The main disadvantage to fiber lasers is apparent with thicker materials. When processing metals thicker than 5 mm, CO2 lasers produce faster, cleaner cuts.

Do fiber lasers lose power over time? ›

While all lasers experience some level of power degradation, fiber lasers are known for their stable performance over an extended period. The specific power loss over time can vary depending on several factors, including the quality of the laser source, maintenance practices, and operating conditions.

What kind of laser will cut metal? ›

Fiber laser beams offer a metal friendly wavelength that metal absorbs more efficiently. The smaller spot size and excellent beam profile make it ideal for cutting most any metals. Most notably, compared to CO2, fiber has a straight line speed that's 2-3x faster when cutting thin sheet metal at 5mm or less.

Can you engrave metal with a fiber laser? ›

Fiber lasers are the best laser engravers for metal because of their speed, precision, and efficiency. The laser source is doped with ytterbium (Yb), which allows the laser to generate a wavelength of ≈1,064 nm that reacts well with metals.

How thick of material can a fiber laser cut? ›

Generally, 1000W fiber laser cutting machine can cut about 10mm carbon steel plate, and stainless steel plate is slightly difficult to cut. If the cutting thickness is to be increased, it is necessary to sacrifice the edge effect and speed.
